Step 1: Identify the underlying health plan
MultiPlan is a provider network, not the insurer. Use the member ID card and plan documents to identify the company responsible for eligibility, benefits, authorization, and claims.
Step 2: Verify the insured partner’s PPO benefits
Trinity can review active eligibility, MultiPlan network access, covered addiction-treatment services, prior authorization requirements, and deductible, copay, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket responsibility.
Step 3: Explain that only one partner is insured
Tell admissions whether the other partner is completely uninsured or simply not enrolled under the policy. If that person is already an eligible dependent, their own benefits can be verified separately.
Step 4: Ask about Trinity sponsorship
If the second partner is uninsured or non-covered, Trinity may separately consider them for sponsorship. Sponsorship does not add them to the health plan and does not mean MultiPlan or the underlying insurer pays for both people.
Step 5: Complete the couples-program clinical review
Eligible couples may be able to enter couples rehab together when clinically appropriate. Each partner is assessed individually.
Step 6: Confirm the level of care
Depending on clinical need, treatment may begin with detox or residential rehab, with later step-down to PHP or IOP.
Step 7: Coordinate travel to California
