If Empire Blue Cross approves one partner’s treatment but the other partner has no insurance, Trinity Behavioral Health may separately review the uninsured partner for its couples sponsorship model. Empire is now branded Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield/Anthem Blue Cross in New York. The insurance approval applies only to the enrolled member and does not automatically cover the other partner.

Does one partner’s approval cover the other?
No. Coverage and authorization belong to the enrolled member. Trinity sponsorship is a separate admissions arrangement for an eligible uninsured or non-covered partner.
What if the second partner is actually a dependent?
If that person is enrolled and eligible under the plan, their own Empire/Anthem benefits should be verified separately rather than assuming sponsorship is needed.
Can we still attend couples rehab together?
Potentially. Trinity’s couples rehab program may serve eligible couples together when clinically appropriate. Each person is assessed individually.
