Trinity Behavioral Health

Can a Spouse or Dependent Use Beacon Health Options / Carelon Benefits for Rehab?

A spouse or dependent may be able to use Beacon Health Options or Carelon Behavioral Health benefits for addiction treatment if that person is actively enrolled under the underlying health plan. Trinity Behavioral Health accepts Beacon-related behavioral-health benefits when the specific plan provides applicable coverage, but each covered person’s eligibility, network status, authorization, and cost sharing must be verified separately.

Verify the covered family member’s Beacon/Carelon benefits before admission.

Does the subscriber’s coverage automatically apply to a spouse?

No. The spouse must be enrolled and eligible under the plan. The same applies to a dependent. Behavioral-health benefits, authorization, and medical-necessity review are tied to the individual receiving treatment.

Can family members have different member costs?

Yes. Individual and family deductibles, accumulators, copays, or coinsurance can affect each person differently. The underlying health plan controls those details.

Can prior authorization be required for a covered dependent?

Yes. Carelon’s provider resources make authorization and eligibility member-specific. Coverage for residential rehab, PHP, IOP, or another level of care should be verified for the person seeking treatment.

What should be checked?

  • Active enrollment
  • Underlying health plan
  • Behavioral-health administrator
  • Covered level of care
  • Network status
  • Prior authorization
  • Medical-necessity criteria
  • Deductible, copay, and coinsurance

For carrier context, see the ValueOptions / Beacon / Carelon rehab hub. Trinity offers residential rehab, PHP, and IOP when clinically appropriate.

Exact benefits vary by member and plan and should be verified directly. One person’s coverage does not automatically establish another family member’s benefits.
